Matched by Ally Condie matched

Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander’s face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate… until she sees Ky Markham’s face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it’s a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she’s destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can’t stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society’s infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she’s known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

I did enjoy this book but it was a little predictable and slow in certain places, but it did have me guessing in some bits. One of the main characters Xander, was not likable until the end for me, it was like the author was trying too hard for him to be perfect and he came across as in-human. (Just my opinion).

I love dystopian stories, but I prefer ones with a little more explanation. I honestly do not think people would let themselves get like that, there was no explanation as how why the world got in the state it did, just the way it is now. I just wanted, more.

I think a lot of authors who write YA think the readers cannot handle too much information, when they just give the bare bones it annoys me, we can handle more.

I will read the next one, just because I want to know who put Ky’s face onto the microcard.

If you like YA and do not mind simple reads then this is a good book to read.
