Remember in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, in the department of mysteries, all the youngsters go into a room and Harry and Luna can hear voices coming from an empty arch? That’s the veil.

What exactly is it, we never find out. Two members can hear voices from it, (can Neville?, I cannot remember). Is it a coincidence that they are also the ones that can see the Threstrals, so they have seen someone die? Is a portal to life after death?

Oh I forgot to mention that when Sirius died he fell through the veil and disappeared. So what’s on the other side? Life after death? Heaven? Trapped souls? What are the voices? People who have died,  is the reason Harry and Luna can hear the voices, is because the voices are people they know. The others (as far as we know) have had no family members die.

I just found a source saying that it is a barrier between the land of the living and the land of the dead, but it is a one way trip. (Do not remember that being said). The adults do know that Sirius cannot come back. Maybe I should have thought more about this.

Why is there though? Just to keep people from going into it, or for more sinister reasons? Apparently J.K. Rowling has said that it has been there as long as the ministry itself, did they build the ministry around it then to protect it or have control of it.

So the question now is, is there anything beyond there? Were people standing on the other side?

Time for another read to see if I can think of more.

Until next time, night bookworms.
