Prince of Wolves by Quinn Loftis prince of wolves

Blurb from Goodreads

Jacque Pierce was just an ordinary 17-year-old girl getting ready to start her senior year in high school in Coldspring, Texas. When a mysterious foreign exchange student from Romania moves in across the street, Jacque and her two best friends, Sally and Jen, don’t realize the last two weeks of their summer are going to get a lot more interesting.

From the moment Jacque sets eyes on Fane she feels an instant connection, a pull like a moth to a flame. Little does she know that the flame she is drawn to is actually a Canis lupis, werewolf, and she just happens to be his mate; the other half of his soul.

The problem is Fane is not the only wolf in Coldspring, Texas.

Just as Fane and Jacque are getting to know each other, another wolf steps out to try and claim Jacque as his mate. Fane will now have to fight for the right to complete the mating bond, something that is his right by birth but is being denied him by a crazed Alpha. Will the love Fane has for Jacque be enough to give him the strength to defeat his enemy, will Jacque accept that she is Fane’s mate and complete the bond between them?

I gave this book 3 stars out of 5.

The Bad

I feel that it was too slow and it took me about a month to read, I felt like nothing actually happened in the story, I was always wanting more. I got to 40% and they had met and had a few conversations, that’s all. There was too much werewolf rules that were just odd and it made it feel forced. The showing your neck to your alpha bit, almost made me put the book down and delete it on the spot. People accepted the existence of werewolves far too easily for my liking, no-one seemed to question it in the slightest, if someone told me that (even my best friend) I think I would be checking them for head-trauma.

The fact that it was said numerous times how they were meant to be together and nothing could stop it, got tedious and forced to me, it felt like it was not real love just a something they could not avoid, they were in love before they even knew each other, not realistic to me.

There was a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes, also some names were mixed up and it made the story hard to read and confusing at times.

The Good

I liked the characters, especially Jen and Lilly, Jen was funny and always had her friends’ back no matter what, she adapted easily and seems like she could overcome anything with a sarcastic comment. Lilly was a good mum, she did what was best for her daughter’s safety even if it meant getting rid of other rules. She was welcoming and has a strong heart, I would have liked to see more of her.

Overall

The story itself was fairly good it just could have been faster and more to it, in my opinion. I will not read it again or read the next one in the series. Though for younger readers it is probably more suited.
