I requested this interesting looking book on netgalley but was denied. I saw it in tesco with a a 2 different covers and realised there was a different cover for each of the crowns.
Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.
Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache.
Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers.
All very pretty covers, there is a fourth one with all the crowns on.
It’s still a good cover but not as nice as the first three. It’s a very clever marketing strategy, giving the readers to choose a side before they read the book. When I bought the book I only had the choice of the red and yellow covers, I chose the fire one, I love fire magic.
Which one would you choose? Here’s the full synopsis of this intriguing book.
Every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born: three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.
But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose…it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins. The last queen standing gets the crown.
If only it was that simple. Katharine is unable to tolerate the weakest poison, and Arsinoe, no matter how hard she tries, can’t make even a weed grow. The two queens have been shamefully faking their powers, taking care to keep each other, the island, and their powerful sister Mirabella none the wiser. But with alliances being formed, betrayals taking shape, and ruthless revenge haunting the queens’ every move, one thing is certain: the last queen standing might not be the strongest…but she may be the darkest.
Have you read this book? Did you enjoy it? Do you want to read this book? Which side did you choose?
I just got this in the September OwlCrate and am so excited to read it!
Which cover did you get? It looks really good doesn’t it.
It does! I got the one with 3 crowns. I think the others were UK, maybe?
Ah okay, ye I am in the UK and tesco had the yellow and green ones. I look forward to seeing your review when you read it.
I’m pretty sure these are UK exclusive covers. I really want the poisoner cover, it appeals to my Slytherin side lol.
It does kinda look like that. That’s a shame, I much prefer these covers to the three crowns. I have the fire crown cover, it’s pretty nice. Have you read this book?
I prefer these covers as well. I haven’t read it yet but I really want to.
I cannot wait to read this one, looks really good 😀
I bought this book (the cover with the three crowns) a few weekends ago at a book festival, and read the first few chapters while waiting in line. It was a little confusing at first with the three different POV’s and the world building, but it gets better!
Glad you enjoyed it, I am really looking forward to reading it, the covers are so pretty I am hoping for good things.
When I picked it up, I only had the choice of the red one so I didn’t even realise there were other options! The red cover is definitely my favourite though, so I guess it all worked out alright. I’m really looking forward to reading it now. 😀
I’ve just started it, not very far in, but it’s good so far. I hope you enjoy it when you do read it 🙂 Ye I would have picked up the red one had it been there when I was buying it. I’m not sure why but I picked up the yellow even though it’s my least favourite. I just like fire magic 🙂
This book was fantastic – and I was lucky enough to meet Kendare Blake earlier this month and get a signed copy!
Oh wow, that’s amazing 🙂 I have now read it, and need to put up the review. I do think it was really good and looking forward to the next book in the series.
