demark 1

I love theses covers, they are simple and show just a glimpse into world. So this one has a Hedwig and bit of the castle plus lightning. Also lots of little lightning bolts over the cover. Really nice.

denmark 2

This one shows the basalisk and the sword of Gryffindor, with a little bit of a staircase, who know where it leads. Once again there is the little lightning bolts covering the cover which is a lovely touch.

denmark 3

This is probably my least favourite cover of the set, the hippogriff looks strange. But I like how the moon is shown for Professor Lupin and a little bit of the castle.

denmark 4

I do like the use of of the silouhettes, this time of a mermaid. Then showing the Durmstrang ship and the fire from yhe goblet of fire.

denmark 5

Love the picture of the pheonix and that it’s showing maybe the pensieve, along with the prophecy.

demark 6

Maybe I am having a silly moment but I cannot currently remember Unicorns being in the sixth book. And the picture in the back doesnt show a picture that istantly reminds me of Hogwarts.

denmark 7

Along with the first one, this is probably my favourite. Showing the castle and the dragon from Gringotts.

Overall these covers are beautiful. I would love to own them.

What do you think of them?

So it’s been a few years since I have posted any of these covers, there are only so many, but I found this today and thought they were far too pretty not to share.

hp1 na

These have a lot going on, but each small picture has something significant to the book. I love it.

hp2 na

I love the spiders crawling all over the book and the inclusion of the howler. I think a child who has not read the books, will look at these in depth and try to work out what they are about to discover when they read the books.

hp 3 na

I am liking the footprints all over the cover. The quotes from each book are really making me want to read them all again. I really like how if you know the bokos there are little hints about the plot but if you don’t know them, it gives nothing away.

hp4 na

I love that a letter from Sirius is included in the cover. A very long dragon at the top is pretty cool.

hp5 na

I like how the book is very Umbridge based, with a little of the other characters like the weasley twins and the extendable ears. This is probably my favourite of this set of covers.

hp6 na

Once again there is a lot going one, it’s over riding theme is the cave where the horcrux is held, but I love that she has included some of the lighter elements of the book too.

hp 7 na

The theme of hallows vs horcruxes is strong, which I love. It makes me very happy that the deluminator and tales of beedle of the bard are included.

What do you think of these covers? Would you buy this set if they were available?

These are so bright and eye-catching. I love how the first four have some flying creature or object, it brings a sense of cohesion to the books. There seems to be so much going on in the backgrounds which I love. I adore how in the first one it looks like Dumbledore is part of the building and wearing some of it as a hat, it’s so fun. 🙂

I never owned any of these but did see them in shops. They are very pretty and very elegant. I like how they give just enough away to make the story interesting but not enough you can guess any plot lines before the story starts. I love the forth book especially, I can just imagine how scary that would be in the night sky.

I love these covers, they have a very Roald Dahl and adventure feel. They are bright and full of wonder, I would have spent ages looking at these for details about the book if I had these as a kid. What do you think of these?

These are not my favourite covers but they do have a certain childish charm to them. I would be happy if I had grown up with these on my shelves. I especially like the fifth one. I also kind of like the fact that the 6th one has a black border, showing darkness it in, possibly at the upsetting death at the end.

original Us edition

Although I did not grow up with these covers, they are familiar to me. They are beautiful and convey the theme of the books very well, apart from the last one, what is he meant to be doing? Just looks like he is proclaiming a faith or something. Even the fifth one just seems like he is trying to keep a secret. But I still love them.

original UK covers

These are the original covers that I grew up with, all except for the last one, I have the adult cover for that one. But these covers are familiar to as are the characters that we all know and love. They are beautiful and describe the books well, yet still childish enough to engage younger readers.

These are very 90’s style and I love it. Especially the first one. The fourth one intrigues me, I love how it looks the dragons are kites (it does to me anyway). I also love how the seventh one has a sad moment rather than a moment of drama or adventure. I would love to have these, maybe I would learn French quicker 🙂

Would you buy these?

new uk covers

I LOVE these covers. I already have a well worn set of the originals, but when I saw these I just had to buy them. They have a gorgeous box they came in, with a picture of hogwarts on it. These are so pretty and have a lot of depth and detail to them which is great.
